Review by Hobby HiFi 5/2005: ...after placing the speakers parallel to one another, just 50 cm away from the rear wall: "The result of these two measures was convincing: now the room is filled with kicking and deep bass, without even a hint of booming as expected from a transmission line. Positioned that way the Family TL also showed a perfect three-dimensionality: listening to a jazz piece, the solo clarinettist's motion from the rear right towards the front centre microphone was clearly noticeable. The fundamental characteristics of the speaker remained the same through all listening positions: the sound projection is clean and clear, almost a bit to dry. From small combos to big orchestral set-ups, the Family TL reproduces all types of music cleanly and staged with a lot of width. The bright but never annoying high frequencies also never changed their characteristics through various listening positions. There is, however, a small drawback: the Family TL could do with a hint more warmth, especially the vocals coming from Marla Gien or Lisa Nilsson live on it. This is probably the result of a slight, good 1 dB boost between 800 and 5.000 Hz, to be noticed in the frequency response. But this criticism should not be taken too seriously: in relation to the bargain price of roughly 120 EUR for a complete kit the Family TL offers a lot more than the hi-fi enthusiast expects in his wildest dreams."...
