CT 285-FAST is a F.A.S.T (fullrange and subwoofer technologie) floorstanding speaker with a fullrange driver for the high and mids and a bigger fullrange driver for the bass range.
CT285-FAST is developed by Holger Barske and Thomas Schmidt.
The cabinet contains two full range loudspeakers: the small Visaton FRS 5X and the bigger Visaton BG 20. With both there are three different variants:
The crossover consists of a second order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the full range loudspeaker. A serial RCL is smoothing the frequency response. The woofer is connected to a 2nd order low-pass filter.
The frequency response of this speaker is linear. The decay spectrum is good. At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are not higher than 1% between 300 Hz and 10 000 Hz and doesn't exceed 1,5% at 95 dB at 1 m.

The high-end kit is delivered with baked varnish air core coils for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered. All capacitors are foil capacitors of type MKP (polypropylen).
