The cabinet should be built with either 16 mm MDF or multiplex boards. For further quietening down the cabinet it is recommended to use a 19 mm board as baffle, as we have done here.

The cabinet is quite slim. For those who would prefer the Simon to be even slimmer we recommend to reduce the width by 2 cm, reduce the depth somewhat and increase the height accordingly. In any case, attention should be paid to keeping the interior volume as is.

A quarter bag of polyester damping material each should be placed into the lower and upper part of the cabinet. 5 to 10 cm around the bass reflex tube should be free of polyester fleece.

Simon Gehäuse To build the cabinet, it's best to start with one side panel. The second side panel should be the second last to be fitted. The baffle comes last. The rear panel could also be made detachable.

All wooden panels are to be screwed together; the drivers are fitted last.

The bass reflex tube needs to be shortened to 81 mm.

The crossover may be attached to the bottom panel.


Simon: the crossover

The crossover components should be attached to a wooden board with either hot glue or cable fasteners. Afterwards they are wired up. If desired, a universal PCB could be used instead. Here, the components' leads are fed through the PCB's holes and soldered on the other side. Simon
If you want to use a valve amp we recommend a serial resonance circuit as impedance correction.

- Air core coil 0.82 mH / 0.7 mm
- Resistor 18 Ohm 10 Watts
All components need to be wired up in series. The two remaining leads should be connected to the loudspeaker terminal.
